Kurt Cobain Is Juvenile Journal’s Spring 2016 Grunge Muse

Kurt Cobain inspired an alternative nation to break the norms and come as you are. His music and lyrics have resonated with those who have felt like they were on the outside looking in, and his style has revolutionized the fashion industry. His uniform of plaid shirts, jeans, and combat boots was so different from the ultra glam looks of the ’80s that it caused quite a stir in the next decade.

Fashion in the ‘90s has become such an iconic part of the industry that it continues to influence a multitude of designers. Today’s resurgence of ‘90s fashion is evident in new collections that exude the decade’s laid-back quality, minimalist sporty style, cool irreverence, and tough-girl edge.

Juvenile Journal revisits the era for its spring/summer 2016 issue and recreates the iconic grunge style of Kurt Cobain. Photographed by Baldovino Barani, model Ivan Claudiu Vlad stars in a series of images that capture the essence of grunge in the ‘90s. Styled by Cheryl Leung, Ivan is seen wearing pieces from high-end labels such as Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Givenchy, and Dolce & Gabbana.
